The Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge on November 24 is New Zealand’s largest cycling event and the world’s largest cycling relay.

Circumnavigating Lake Taupo, the challenge has a wide range of events available to participants of varying abilities and fitness levels,

These include the solo 160km around Lake Taupo, road and mountain bike relays, mountain bike challenges, separate men’s and women’s races, corporate challenges, Enduro events (2, 4 and 8 laps of the lake) and the @Heart ride for kids.

The Cycle Challenge regularly attracts in excess of 10,000 riders and, in 2006, was admitted to the UCI Golden Bike Series, gaining recognition as being one of the world’s top six rides.

Registration for this year’s event is open until November 17.
