Tourico Holidays release first Holiday Hotel Report

Sunday, 14 Dec, 2016 0
Leading travel wholesaler Tourico Holidays has released its first Holiday Hotel Report offering an insight into latest trends and data in hotel booking behavior.

The company currently contracts more than 100,000 hotels globally and its platform generates about 250 million travel searches per day.

Tourico found growth across all key inbound markets for festive vacations in the US between December 19 and January 1, 2017.

Year over year, the China inbound market was up 84% while travelers from the UAE and Canada more than doubled.

Australia, Spain and Mexico also recorded significant double-digit growth for holiday travel.

The domestic US market was up 15%.

Outbound, the UK, Japan and Canada have proved most popular for Americans, thanks to falling currencies against the US dollar.

Holiday visits to Canada are up 62%, Japan 52% and post-Brexit UK up 45%.

Interestingly, festive bookings for France are up 74% despite ongoing terrorism fears in Europe.

"By analyzing hotel booking behavior – including changes in prices, demand, and lead time – we’re able to provide a snapshot of the holiday travel market and, as usual, inbound and outbound US travel during the holidays remains extremely strong," said Lauren Volcheff Atlass, Tourico’s executive vice president of global sales and marketing.

Tourico says the top holiday destinations this year are New York City, which is up 38% year over year, Las Vegas, Orlando and London.
