Tourism after the tsunami
Places are running out to attend the TravelMole “Tourism after the Tsunami” FastConference on January 25.
The free event promises to feature some lively and informed debate thanks to a stellar line up of speakers. Under the spotlight are:
Tom Hall, travel information manager for Lonely Planet travel guides
David Soskin, chief executive of Cheapflights.co.uk
Dave Simmons, managing director of Quest Travel
Geoffrey Lipman, special advisor to the World Tourism Organisation
Tim Robinson, chairman of the UK chapter of PATA, and
Derek Moore, co-founder of adventure tour operator Explore Worldwide.
The venue has been confirmed as the Sheraton Park Tower Hotel in London’s Knightsbridge between 16.00-18.00.
The event will pick up from where today’s debate, organised by the Travel Foundation and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, leaves off. The over-subscribed event is being attended by Government ministers, representatives from the affected nations and other members of the travel industry, who will discuss a united industry approach to creating a long-term recovery campaign for tourism to Asia.
To attend the conference, call 0207 691 3292 or email [email protected]. Donations will be taken at the event to help with the tsunami relief effort.
This event replaces the scheduled January TravelMole Fast Conference, titled ‘What Next for the Industry Giants?’ which will now take place at a later date.
Bookings are also being taken on the above number for TravelMole’s February Fast Conference, entitled “Selling Britain”. The event will take place in London on Tuesday 22 February, 4pm-6pm. It is being sponsored by enjoyEngland, Hoseasons and East Midlands Tourism.
The debate aims to examine whether UK agents shy away from selling Britain and whether agents can be incentivised to sell holidays in the domestic market and make profit from it.
Speakers so far include Richard Carrick, chief executive of Hoseasons and Richard Dickinson, chief executive of East Midlands Tourism. The moderator for the event is Jeremy Skidmore.
