Tourism minister quits under pressure
Philippine tourism minister Alberto Lim is quitting after 13 months in the job.
He said frequent criticism of him impacted his ability to carry out his duties.
“I am ready to accept (criticism) but I did not want that to get in the way of the (tourism) department,” 61-year-old Lim told a press conference, reported by AFP.
Lim, a former high-profile businessman, has courted controversy with comments criticising some of the travel industry’s practices.
He was also forced to scrap an international tourism campaign whose domain name was just two letters different from a pornographic website.
