Tourism minister wants all for one, one for all approach
India’s new tourism minister, K. Chiranjeevi, has outlined his objectives for boosting the country’s visitor numbers.
He said promoting and raising awareness about India as a tourist destination year-round was his first priority.
He would also expand tourist visas on arrival and encourage development of budget accommodation.
Speaking at WTM in London last week, he said, "My agenda will be to make tourism India’s main economic and political agenda, taking all state governments, union territories and other stakeholders on board."
The tourism ministry recently launched a refreshed ‘Incredible India’ campaign — ‘Find what you seek’.
"In our Take Two of the Incredible India campaign, we are focusing on consumers," the minister said, adding that the ministry would promote lesser-known destinations.
