Tourism pages launched on online research site Eldis
Eldis. the online research news site run by the Institute of Development Studies at Sussex University, now contains information on tourism and its relationship to the developing world.
Eldis has been providing the development community with web and email based synthesised research news, jobs and announcements for over 7 years. The site presents information in subject based resource guides and currently provides over 20 web based guides and more than 30 regular email updates. Eldis users are policy makers, NGO staff, researchers and students who are spread widely over North and South and all continents.
The new pages on tourism contain summaries of and links to documents, organisations and discussion groups that are freely available online. So far they have catalogued 150 organisations and papers on or around tourism and its relationship with the developing world. These records will be constantly updated as new work is published. The first featured subject is tourism and poverty – with links to 15 free, online full text papers and case studies.
In building the library of papers, news and discussions the editors would like to request your help: please send suggestions for new records to the address below. They are always keen to hear about research and policy papers, organisations, conference and job announcements and other news. You can submit your work either by email or via the website at http://www.eldis.org/about/contribute.htm
Work must be freely available online, although they have some limited ability to host documents if you have no web space to do so.
They would also like to hear from practitioners and researchers interested in writing short features that might include an opinion piece and suggestions for further reading. The subject area is broad and any topical suggestions will be considered.
