Tourism Western Australia Re-structures Regional Offices
Tourism Western Australia will have a stronger presence across the State, thanks to a new structure of its regional offices.
The new structure, stemming from a review of the previous regional offices, will see 11 tourism managers on-hand to support and advise tourism development in the State.
Executive Director Industry Development, Jennifer Duffecy said the structure’s changes would boost Tourism WA’s role in product and infrastructure development.
“The development activities of the regional offices are now aligned with the State’s five tourism marketing regions – Australia’s South West, Golden Outback, Coral Coast, North West and Experience Perth,†Ms Duffecy said.
“There are two distinct areas of responsibility to plan and develop tourism in the regions, so we created two types of managers – regional managers and product development managers.
“Five regional managers will facilitate the planning and development of major projects and infrastructure, and also provide advice and assistance to tourism investors.
“They will be responsible for working with government agencies on tourism issues, and may participate on policy and planning committees that effect tourism in the State.
“Six product development managers will help develop new, and enhance existing tourism products and services – such as attractions and accommodation. “They will provide tourism operators with advice and support for initiatives which will help grow their business.
“All 11 managers are now in their regions, familiarising themselves with the local tourism industry.â€
