Tourist killed and four injured in Bangkok shooting
One tourist was killed and four others were injured after being caught in crossfire between rival gangs in Bangkok.
The incident happened as the group of holidaymakers was waiting for a tour bus in the popular Pratunam shopping district behind the Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel.
One gang member was detained and several others are being hunted by police.
Several teenagers ‘had an argument, and started shooting in a small alley near a Bangkok mall’, said police spokesman Krissana Pattanacharoen.
Police identified the dead tourist as 42-year-old Gakhrejr Dheeraj from India. Those injured were from India, Laos and Thailand.
Police Major-General Senit Samararn Samruajkit said three teenagers opened fire with rifles and as many as 20 were armed with pistols, knives and sticks.
