Tourists trapped in Notre-Dame during latest Paris terror attack
Tourists were trapped inside Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris yesterday afternoon after a man was shot outside.
The individual, who is believed to have been hit in the chest, had tried to attack police officers with a hammer, causing panic amongst visitors
The area around the cathedral was immediately sealed off from the public, but those visitors already inside were told to remain.
The man is believed to have attacked officers who were on duty at a police station close to the cathedral.
Officials called the incident a ‘terror attack’.~ It follows the murder of a police officer on the city’s Champs-Elysee by a gunman in April. France has been in a state of emergency since a terror attack in Paris in 2015.
