Trafalgar launches second annual online photo competition

Friday, 27 Jun, 2007 0

Trafalgar Tours has announced the launch of its worldwide online photo competition for 2007, following a huge response in its inaugural year in 2006, with the competition taken out by an Australian.

Sydney resident Annette Blattman won last year’s top honours beating entries submitted from all over the world. Her photo** of a private boatshed in Matilda Bay, on the Swan River, titled “Blue Boatshed” was taken while holidaying in Perth. She has chosen to redeem her prize for Trafalgar’s 12–day Enchanting Maritimes holiday, visiting the picturesque East of Canada during September, when the countryside is at its most colourful.

Annette Blattman said, “I have done a Trafalgar tour to Europe before, but have always wanted to see Nova Scotia in Canada, so I chose the Enchanting Maritimes tour as my prize. I believe it is a very photogenic area, with all the little fishing villages and Prince Edward Island of Anne of Green Gables fame. I’m really looking forward to the trip.”

In 2007, Trafalgar is asking entrants to submit a short journal or story alongside their favourite photo taken on a Trafalgar tour.

Trafalgar Tours managing director, Paul Wiseman says, “This is a great opportunity for agents to make contact with clients who have booked a Trafalgar tour through them in the past, but they may not have been in contact with for a while.

“Photography is such a big part of most people’s holidays, and is something they love to share with friend and families when they return. Our online photo competition gives people the chance to exhibit their favourite photos to thousands of people from around the world who visit the Trafalgar website each month.

“Many Australians will be starting to think about a winter European holiday, or a Canadian holiday around this time, and by contacting clients to let them know about Trafalgar’s past passenger online photo competition, agents can also use the opportunity to spark fresh business.

“The response to last year’s competition was amazing, and choosing a shortlist was incredibly difficult. We anticipate that this year will be just as successful, and look forward to reading the stories behind our passenger’s photos.”

A collection of entries will be selected for the final, where the winner will be determined by public vote. The prize for the winning entry is a fabulous Trafalgar tour* for two.

The closing date for all submissions is September 28, 2007 and voting will begin on October 2, 2007.

Trafalgar past passengers are invited to submit their entries at www.trafalgar.com/photocontest2007.
