Travel Bound group bookings up almost one third
Why are bookings for Travel Bound during the past three months been almost one-third higher than the same period last year?
“Business has picked up tremendously in the past three months,” said new president Nico Zenner. “Not only have we seen 30% higher bookings every week compared to the same time last year, but many destinations are showing growth. He added:
“We see Europe coming back, and strong growth in South America and the Middle East. It looks like peak season took off a few months late this year – but it’s definitely in full swing. Like many in the business, we started this year with a significant decline, so this represents a remarkable turnaround.”
How does Zenner explain the strong bookings? He said:
“Hopefully, the economy is beginning to recover. Certainly, consumers buying from our agents are responding to the low rates that travel industry suppliers are offering. “
Zenner said that while hotel room-night bookings are up, rates are approximately 10-15% lower than 2008.
Bookings of transfers – most are private, not shared – are 11% higher than last year, and sightseeing bookings are also up.
Travel Bound offers more than 30,000 hotels, 5,000 sightseeing tours/excursions and 4,000 private and shared transfers around the world.
“Agents are realizing the added value – and extra commission — in booking add-on products and cross-selling,” said Zenner. He added:
“In fact, our strong results are proof that travelers in today’s economy recognize the value of customizable F.I.T. travel, as opposed to the ‘one size fits all’ escorted tour approach.”
Travel Bound offers commission starting at 10% on every product booked.
