Travel charity confirmed for VisitEngland Awards
Travel industry charity, The Family Holiday Association, has been selected as one of the two official charities at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.
The Awards will take place on Tuesday March 8 at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
Collections will be taken for the raffle in aid of the Family Holiday Association and Springboard.
The funds raised for the Family Holiday Association will go towards its 500 for 500 campaign.
Now in its 40th year, the campaign asks for 500 pledges of £500 from members of the industry.
Each pledge enables the charity to send a family on a seven-night break in a Family Holiday Association-owned caravan by the British seaside.
"The breaks allow struggling families to spend quality time away from home together, and are a lifeline not a luxury," said the charity.
Working in collaboration with destinations and businesses throughout England, the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence recognise businesses and individuals who champion best practice and exhibit excellence in customer service.
The winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony, which is being held for the very first time this year during English Tourism Week.
The Awards ceremony will also include the official presentation of the VisitEngland and Daily Mirror’s Tourism Superstar 2016 Award for the nation’s publically voted unsung tourism hero.
Judged by industry leaders, all finalists will receive either a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Highly Commended Award.
