Travel Counsellors reports record sales
Travel Counsellors has reported record-breaking sales with total transactions surpassing the £500 million mark for the first time.
The figure, achieved between March 2016 and March 2017, reached £452 million in the same period the year before.
The Manchester-based group, which was established in 1994 and now has 1,600 self-employed home workers, said the growth was down to investment in technology and its loyal customers.
This year it will invest £21 million into the business, including the development of its in-house quote and booking system.
Travel Counsellors said the system has led to a 12% increase in sales globally over the past 12 months, with 25% of its total revenue now generated outside the UK.
The firm has Travel Counsellors working in Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa, Australia and the UAE.
Transactions over the 12-month period were boosted by a record month in January, it added.
Sales reached £65 million in January, representing a 22% increase in UK sales and a 20% rise globally when compared with the same period the previous year.
Backed by private equity house Equistone Partners Europe, the group’s total turnover rose to £188 million in the year to October 2016, up from £162 million the previous year.
This was the 11th consecutive year of double-digit revenue growth for the group.
Travel Counsellors chief executive Steve Byrne said he was confident the company can accelerate this momentum in the coming years.
