The number of candidates being placed in new travel jobs has fallen back to its lowest level in 16 months, according to C&M Travel Recruitment data.

April’s total was down by 41% from March and was the lowest since December 2021.

Last month’s number was down by nearly half on April 2019.

After reaching a five-year high in March, the number of new candidates also dipped in April.

Last month’s total was 38% lower than the previous month, but remained up by 10% from April 2022.

New vacancies also dipped.

They decreased to their lowest level since December.

April’s total was down by 49%.

Barbara Kolosinska, MD at C&M Travel Recruitment, said: “April was the slowest month for travel recruitment that we have seen for some time.”

“Much of this downturn can be attributed to Easter, which appeared to have a larger impact on activity.”

“After a historic year for travel recruitment, 2023 has had a much more mixed start.”
