It was a fairly dire day for travel and tourism shares yesterday as London’s main equity indices headed south. The FTSE 100 index dropped 11.8 points to end the day at 4542, while the FTSE 250 lost 29.5 points to close at 6359.3. British Airways probably suffered the most, with profit –taking causing the price to drop 12p to 320.25p after a good run. EasyJet also had a difficult session, dropping 9.75p to 328p, as did lastminute.com – down 8p to 223.54p – while the best performance came from First Choice, which added 5p to end the day at 147p.
