Travellers warned flight delays are likely as cold snap heads to UK
Travellers have been warned heavy snow this week could cause delays and cancellations to flights and rail services.
The Met Office has warned of ‘disruptive snow on Tuesday’ in the first widespread snowfall of 2019.
Cold weather from the Atlantic is heading to the UK, where a yellow snow and ice warning is in place from 9pm on Tuesday until midday on Wednesday for the south of England, East Midlands and West Midlands.
Other parts of the UK are also expected to be affected, with a chance of snow in Wales and the south west.
A combination of rain, sleet and snow is expected to cover the southern half of the nation on Thursday.
Heathrow and Gatwick airports are preparing for snow with 185 and 98 snow ploughs on stand-by respectively, according to the Daily Mirror.
