Travelmediate expands into the UK

Tuesday, 06 May, 2019 0

Representation company Travelmediate has opened two offices in the UK.

The Amsterdam-based group has been operating in Europe for almost 10 years and also has offices in Belgium, France, Germany, and Poland.

Owner, Raymon Honings, has teamed up with James Aitken, managing director of London-based Cashel Travel, to expand the business into the UK.

The UK offices, in Birmingham and Edinburgh, will be headed up by Alia Saunders, who has worked in the industry for many years in DMCs and as director of MICE sales for Macdonald Hotels.

The group will offer representative services for DMCs and for UK hotels wanting to build their MICE business.

Honings said: "Although the UK is maybe not the obvious market to be investing in right now it has a booming MICE business, and if you look through the political fog it has a great future.

"There is a lot of demand out there and we already have companies signed up and several more in the pipeline. We intend to limit the number of DMCs and hotels we represent for the first six months and then open up to new clients after that."

Aitken added: "I have been working with Raymon and the team at Travelmediate for many years now and have been really impressed with their results. When Raymon approached me to set up a joint venture with him I jumped at the chance."

Further expansion is planned with an office opening in the US later this year.
