Nominations open next week for the TravelMole Travel & Tourism Web Awards 2005.

Awards will be presented in 12 categories based on the decision of a panel of expert judges.

The web awards exist to recognise excellence in the bare essentials of effective online presence. The judges will be looking for clarity of purpose, ease of use and good functionality.  Almost 300 individual sites were nominated last year.

Nominations open on Friday, February 4, and close the week following Friday, March 18. Shortlists are to be published the week of April 4, with the presentation ceremony to be held in the week of April 18.

As last year, there will be a dedicated awards area linked from TravelMole’s daily newswires and the www.TravelMole.com home page, with email links for nominating sites for each different category.

Categories are:

– Travel agent site

– Tour operator site

– Web-based agency

– Airline site

– Hotel/resort site

– Cruise & ferry operator site

– Tourist board site

– Car rental site

– Recruitment site

– Travel management site

– Responsible tourism site

– Technology site.

Confirmed sponsors are Dolphin Dynamics (travel agency category), Octopus Travel (web-based agency category), Sabre (technology category) and Flightseeker (airline category).

The full panel of judges will be announced at the end of February.

Look out for further announcements on www.TravelMole.com.
