TravelMole interview: Patricia Howarth
TravelMole interview: Patricia Howarth, hospitality sales and marketing director, Bald Head Island An island in North Carolina that has a lot more than regional appeal is offering agents 15% commissions as well as other perks, says Patricia Howarth, hospitality sales and marketing director, Bald Head Island. “Bald Head Island is a unique destination for both North Carolina locals, as well as those traveling from abroad,” she told TravelMole. She added: “Of all the appealing features that set Bald Head Island apart from the ordinary beach destination, the most distinctive is the relaxation that visitors experience from the island’s stunning variety of natural environments.” She said in recognition of the island’s “valuable partnership” with agents, commissions of 15% on all bookings from February through May are offered. The 15% number is also good for bookings from September through December. Bookings between June and August offer the standard 10% commissions, she added. Agents can also earn individual awards, Ms Howarth said. These include rounds of golf and a free week of accommodations for agents reaching set sales volumes. Ms Howarth said agents can also offer their clients 20% discounts off full summer rates from May 23-June 2, and August 2-September 4. The island offers daily or weekly stays, year round. Homes and cottages are set in and around beaches, harbors, marshes, a golf course and a maritime forest. The island is located two miles off the coast of southeastern North Carolina between South Carolina’s Myrtle Beach and Wilmington, North Carolina. It’s a resort and residential community accessible only by boat or ferry. Transportation on the island itself is limited to golf carts, bicycles and walking.
