Travelocity drives Sabre Holdings revenues
Second quarter figures from Sabre Holdings show Travelocity revenues rise sharply in contrast to a decline at Sabre Travel Network.
Travelocity achieved total global revenue of $281 million, an increase of 63% year-on-year. This was based on gross travel booked rising by 58% to $2.7 billion.
This resulted in operating income of $23 million with adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITA) nearly tripled to $31 million.
Travelocity saw air transaction revenue rise by 32%, non-air by 86%, packaging by 25% and the number of hotel room nights sold rose 54% to 4.2 million.
Sabre Travel Network’s second quarter revenue was 2% down to $420 million, with global transactions up by 1% to 91 million. Operating income was $73 million with EBITA $86 million.
Revenue from Sabre Airline Solutions was up 1% to £67 million giving operating income of $10 million and EBITA of $15 million.
Sabre Holdings revenue for the three months was up by 17% to $723 million giving an operating income of $105 million, up from $90 million a year ago. EBITA came in 20% up at $132 million.
The company forecast revenue of $745 million-$775 million for the third quarter and $650 million-$680 million in the final three months.
The holding company’s chairman and CEO Sam Gilliland said: “We had a strong second quarter both financially and operationally. We are pleased to see continued strength in cash generation from our businesses and we remain on track to meet our full-year free cash flow projection.
“We continue to benefit from our strategy of investment in higher growth opportunities while increasing efficiencies in our core business and across our portfolio.”
