Travelodge offers students flexible working

Wednesday, 07 May, 2019 0

Budget hotel chain Travelodge is targeting students in its latest recruitment drive to fill 3,000 vacancies.

It is offering permanent jobs with flexible hours, so students can work around their studies in their university or home towns.

The hotel chain is also offering work buddies, and access to its in-house management development programme, Aspire, so students can expand their skill set while studying.

It says that eight out of 10 students need to work to fund their studies, and those who work 24 hours a week at Travelodge could earn £10,000 per annum, which is enough to meet average living costs.

The scheme also supports Travelodge’s parent’s programme, which allows students to replace workers who need time off in the summer holidays.

With 560 hotels across the UK, Travelodge has a property close to most of the UK’s major universities and colleges, providing students with employment close to where they study and allowing them to transfer their job to a hotel closer to home during the holidays.

Of the 3,000 jobs available this summer, 2,200 are permanent positions and 800 are summer jobs. Roles are available in reception, restaurants and housekeeping.

Travelodge said its findings show that 62% of students work between eight and 24 hours a week and 51% of these say the work is essential to fund their studies.
