Travelodge plans 17 new hotels for 2019
Travelodge is planning to open another 17 new hotels across the UK in 2019, which it said would create more than 350 additional jobs.
The new hotels, costing around £115 million, will be developed by third party investors, it said.
They will grow Travelodge’s hotel network to 595 in the UK, Spain and Ireland.
The group will continue the roll-out of its ‘budget chic’ Travelodge Plus concept, with its seventh property, a new-build hotel at Marlow-on-Thames, to go alongside its existing city centre locations in Edinburgh, York, London and Brighton.
The group will also extend the roll-out of its ‘premium economy’ SuperRooms, which feature extras such as coffee machines, irons and USB power outlets, to more than 50 hotels across the UK, with new ones in Edinburgh, London, Marlow, Solihull and Winchester, including the first rooms to feature mini fridges.
Travelodge said it will also continue to expand its restaurant business and it is expecting to open its 200th hotel with an on-site restaurant this year, while 13 of the new hotels will include a bar cafe
The budget hotel chain will also have more hotels in growing business locations including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Marlow, Solihull and Swindon.
Chief executive Peter Gowers, pictured, said: "Despite the uncertainty facing the UK, the long-term prospects for low-cost hotels remain strong. The next phase of our expansion plan will see us deliver more choice in more places than ever before."
