Travelport acquires mobile tech travel firm
Travelport Worldwide has acquired Dublin based travel app services firm Mobile Travel Technologies Ltd for a reported €14.4 million ($15.8 million).
MTT provides mobile travel platform solutions and customized mobile app products for airlines, hotels, corporate travel management and travel agencies.
Its client base includes budget carrier easyJet, Singapore Airlines, BCD Travel and LATAM Airlines.
The company creates mobile travel apps for all platforms including smartphones, tablets and Apple Watch and the acquisition will likely help escalate Travelport’s mobile growth plans.
"It is a natural extension of Travelport’s strategy of redefining travel commerce to have acquired, what we believe to be, the largest and most successful company focused on delivering sophisticated mobile services and apps to the travel industry," said Travelport CEO Gordon Wilson.
"Adding MTT extends our reach further, and at the higher value add end of the service spectrum for our airline, hotel, travel management company and travel agency clients."
Wilson said MTT will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Travelport, retaining the present CEO and senior management team in order to "maintain their singular focus on the mobile sector and the deep seated customer relationships they build."
