Travelscene conference wraps up in Fiji
Fiji Times says that more than 550 travel agents from Australia converged at the Shangri La Fijian Resort in Sigatoka on the Coral Coast for the Travelscene American Express Conference over the weekend.
The travel agents were brought in to get first hand experience of the diverse range of products that Fiji has to offer.
During the conference, Fiji Visitors Bureau chairman, Patrick Wong announced that they hoped to achieve a 50 per cent growth in arrivals from Australia by 2010.
Mr Wong said they hoped to raise tourist arrivals to 245,000 this year, 282,000 for 2009 and 324,000 in 2010.
Travelscene chief executive, Mike Thomson said the gathering of more than 550 travel agents virtually guaranteed a significant increase in arrival figures as they would be more enlightened on the situation in Fiji and the products that are on offer.
