TravelSupermarket announces leap in revenue
Holiday comparison site TravelSupermarket saw revenues increase by 28% to £22.6 million last year when click-based revenue rose 24% to £21.1 million.
It said it had benefited from a TV and radio campaign in the January and July trading periods.
"The Group’s ongoing investment in technology has enabled the business to re-platform a number of its core channels and will allow it to make future changes to the customer proposition in a more agile manner," it said.
The website saw a 15% increase in visitors to its website for the year to the end of December, during which transactions were up 19%.
Managing director Vic Darvey said:"TravelSupermarket was the fastest growing part of the well-performing MoneySuperMarket Group in 2014.
" The investments we’ve made mean holidaymakers now find it even easier to use TravelSupermarket to choose their next break while getting great value for money.
" We spent nearly £3m on improvements last year and are now mid-way through our investment programme.
"Our car hire and flight sites have been significantly upgraded over the last year and we continue to deliver against our promise of helping customers make the most of their money, helping us attract 20 million unique users to the site in 2014.
"The holiday mojo has returned. Families are looking to take three rather than two holidays this year, but are determined to get top value for their money. It’s our job to help customers choose the holiday that suits them, and to save money at the same time."
In its preliminary results for 2014, the MoneySupermarket group announced its after-tax profit was up 52% to £52.8 million.
