Tributes paid following death of travel agent
Tributes have been paid to a prominent Scottish travel agent who died unexpectedly days after surviving a serious car accident.
Ian Widdowson, 59, who owned Beaver Travel in Forres and Elgin, was involved in a car accident on New Year’s Day.
The driver of the other vehicle – 24-year-old Daniel Gordon – died at the scene.
Mr Widdowson, who was a passenger in the second vehicle, managed to escape before it burst into flames, as did the 80-year-old woman who was driving, reports The Northern Scot.
Although his injuries were initially described as ‘minor’, it is believed that his death was due to medical complications following the accident.
Mr Widdowson and his wife took over the Beaver Travel firm in Forres in 1999.
Members of the travel industry took to Facebook page, Travel Trade talk and squawk, to pay their respects.
Karen Anne Allen said: "Our thoughts and sympathies today go to family and friends of Ian Widdowson of Beaver Travel who has tragically died in a car accident, very sad day for the industry."
