TripAdvisor to open European HQ in London
TTI conference special report: Consumer review site TripAdvisor is opening a London office to act as its European headquarters.
The company has recruited Marc Charron, former UK managing director of auction site QXL, as its European managing director.
TripAdvisor, a member of the Expedia Inc stable, has recently launched five local European sites including the UK, Germany and Spain.
The company also launched its Inside Pages service this week enabling visitors to create
travel guides from each other’s experiences.
The service has been tested in the UK market in recent weeks and is now ready to be expanded to feature 23,000 TripAdvisor’s locations across the globe.
Robin Ingle, senior vice president for advertising sales said: “It’s a product to create the ultimate guidebook content. Travellers can edit, write or research by seeing the most up-to-date on the site.”
Ingle encouraged travel companies to get involved with review sites as a way of communicating and responding to their customers.
She said: “It’s very powerful so find places where your customers are talking and listen and respond to poor reviews.”
TripAdvisor attracts 20 million unique users a month with 25% coming from Europe. A new piece of user information is posted every minute.
