Triton conference special: Merger failed because of separate DNA
Global chief executive and Triton director Andrew Botterill said the three consortia that made up Triton had failed to merge because the ‘DNA’ of their businesses was different.
“A year ago we were three different entities with three different shareholders. Today the situation hasn’t changed,” he said.
“We came from the point of putting three into one and uniting the independent sector. The concept needed the backing of boards and members and for various reasons we never managed to get there.
“We learnt a lot about each others’ businesses and the DNA of our businesses – the way we operate – is different.
“The whole process took 12 months and was too convoluted and we’ve now got to do a better job at communicating the benefits to members.â€
