Triton on borrowed time to deliver results

Thursday, 08 May, 2006 0

Suppliers have warned Triton they have a limited time to pull agents into line and make them back preferred partners.

Speaking after research revealed only 56% of Triton agents sold their suppliers (see previous story), operators warned in conference that they would not wait indefinitely for the backing of the 2,000-strong group.

After the sessions, Holiday Autos sales and commercial director Ian Coyle added that the company was keeping a close watch on sales.

“We’re going to give it a year and see what the situation is,” he said.

Complete Cruise Solution head of sales Giles Hawke added that the current climate demanded independents work together for suppliers.

“We’ve done a deal for 2007 and will look at it over the next year and a half, but we’re looking for proof they can work together.”

Triton sales director John McEwan said there was no time limit on improving sales  but agreed that backing for suppliers needed to improve.

“I don’t think you can put a time limit on it,” he said. “It’s difficult to say whether it is months or a year, but there’s no doubt we have to deliver.”
