Triton provides ITX fare availability
Inclusive tours (ITX) air fares are to be made available to Triton agents from next week.
TritonAirfares claims the move from September 19 will give members of the independent ‘super consortia’ a further competitive edge over rivals.
ITX fares are normally only accessible by tour operators and in many cases provide a significant price advantage over scheduled airfare pricing, according to Triton.
“Quite often this means the independent agent simply cannot compete even when heavily discounting.”
Due to the nature and sensitivity of these fares, Triton is controlling ITX air fare availability and has produced technology to allow members to search in a “very controlled environment” under specific criteria.
Jason Edwards, product development director at the Global Travel Group, said: “We have many agents who specialise in long haul routes and where they have historically lost bookings on occasions due to being uncompetitive against an agent using an ITX airfare – we are now giving them the tools to retaliate.”
