Tropical Places axed in latest TUI move

Sunday, 18 Jan, 2005 0

The Tropical Places brand is being axed by TUI as part of its continuing strategy of focussing sales on the Thomson brand. The Tropical Places programme has now been amalgamated with Thomson Worldwide, which will now include more a wider choice of hotels and destinations. The new-look brochure includes Bali for the first time since 2002, when the resort was taken off sale following Foreign Office advice not to travel to the area because of the threat of terrorism. The advisory was changed last summer. Properties offered in Bali include a wide range of three and four star hotels, such as the Melia Bali Villas & Spa Resort. Prices start from £759 per person for a five-night room only package. Larger programmes to the Maldives, Mauritius, Dubai, Kenya, Barbados and St Lucia are also featured in the 260-page 2005/06 brochure. A greater number of budget properties are included throughout the Caribbean, including the two-star Island Inn, Barbados.
