Trump that: Crystal bottles in the minibar

Friday, 28 Feb, 2008 0

CHICAGO – The new Trump International Hotel and Tower Chicago has not been stingy in choosing items for its in-house minibars.

Items include: Knipschildt truffles from New York, Fever-Tree ginger ale from England and, naturally, Trump Ice bottled water.

The priciest item: Bling H20 bottled water from Tennessee. Price: US$25 for a half-litre bottle. Of course, that’s a Swarovski crystal-encrusted bottle.

The hotel says the water comes from a natural spring “in the middle of 120 acres of virgin forest”.

“I think Paris Hilton feeds it to her dog,” says Philipp Posch, Trump Chicago’s food and beverage director.

The only Chicago-made treat to be included in the minibars is Terry’s Toffee, a boutique toffee company.

“It’s kind of like being nominated for an Academy Award,” said Terry’s Toffee owner Terry Opalek
