TRX says new program is going green

TRX, Inc. announced the launch of its comprehensive corporate social responsibility program, XTEND, encompassing three key areas: Going Green, Volunteerism, and Corporate Giving.

“The launch of our XTEND program carries our commitment to our employees and to the communities in which we live and work to a new level,” said Trip Davis, president and CEO.

He added:

“XTEND enables TRX to mobilize its resources to give back to the industries we serve, supporting the belief that an increased quality of life in turn generates an increased quality of business.”

TRX is an independent provider of transaction processing and data integration services to the global travel industry.

TRX’s XTEND program includes company sponsorships and funding, as well as the donation of employees’ personal time and resources.

The Going Green portion of the XTEND program includes a number of initiatives designed to prevent or offset unintentional environmental damage (such as carbon emissions) caused during the normal course of business. For example:

 With The Trees for Travel program, in coordination with Trees Atlanta, a non-profit citizens’ group dedicated to protecting and improving the urban environment by planting and conserving trees, TRX will sponsor the purchase and planting of a tree in the Atlanta metro area for every business trip a TRX employee takes.

   With the Carbon Mission Model, TRX is launching a new model that allows companies to calculate the level of CO2 contributed to the atmosphere due to air travel. The program uses companies’ historical travel data. TRX will donate 15% of the proceeds from this model to Native Energy, a leading national marketer of renewable energy credits (RECs) and carbon offsets. Native Energy uses companies’ carbon offsets to help build wind energy projects on Native American and Native Alaskan land.
