Two American Airlines jets are out of service after a runaway fuel truck collided with them at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport.

The fuel truck careened between the two Bombardier CRJ aircraft hitting the wings of each.

A flight attendant on one of the planes was ‘evaluated and released’ after the accident.

It was unclear what caused the accident or even if there was a driver at the controls of the truck at the time.

The planes were parked on the tarmac preparing to fly to Shreveport and Lubbock.

Both Mesa Airlines operated flights were cancelled and passengers were re-accommodated.

"A vendor’s fueling truck impacted two parked Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft No passengers or crew members were seriously injured. American is reviewing the incident in coordination with the vendor," the airline said.

The truck’s windshield was shattered on impact with one of the wings.
