Two men charged and in custody following Stansted flight diversion
Two men have been charged with endangering an aircaft which had to be diverted to London Stansted on Friday with 295 passengers on board.
Tayyab Subhani, 30, and Mohammed Safdar, 41, appeared before Chelmsford magistrates yesterday. They were remanded in custody until the next hearing on August 5.
Pakistan International Airlines flight PK709, from Pakistan to Manchester, was diverted to Stansted at around 2pm on Friday.
An RAF Typhoon jet was scrambled to escort the plane to the London airport.
On landing, the two men were arrested by Essex police and removed from the plane.
