Two ship guests drown at Carnival’s Celebration Key
Carnival Cruise Line has responded following the death of two guests in drowning incidents on the same day at its new Bahamas private destination.
Two guests on different Carnival Cruise Line ships drowned in separate incidents just hours apart at Celebration Key.
There were identified as a 74-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man.
They were guests on different ships docked at the new private destination – Carnival Mardi Gras and Carnival Elation.
The cruise line said one drowned in a lagoon and the other drowned snorkeling by the beach.
“We are saddened by the loss of our guests. We have trained lifeguards and medical professionals who respond promptly.”
“One guest was sailing with family on Mardi Gras and one guest was sailing with family on Carnival Elation.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the guests and their families,” a spokesperson said..
“According to the initial report, the male became unresponsive while snorkeling at a beach,” a police spokesperson said.
“A lifeguard assisted him from the water, and CPR was administered, but to no avail.”
