UK travel site launched by Rough Guide founders

The founders of Rough Guides and Cool Camping have joined forces to create a new UK travel website.

www.coolplaces.co.uk , which launches today, will look at the best places to sleep, eat, drink and shop in Britain.

It will include reviews written by professional travel writers, based locally and with expert knowledge while users and locals will also be able to add their comments.

Initially the website is covering 35 areas which are great for a weekend stay or day out but the will extend coverage across Britain.

Users will be privy to deals and special offers, some of them offered exclusively to the site by Cool Places businesses, with handy links to book hotels, restaurants, train and coach tickets.

Co-founder of Rough Guides Mark Ellingham said: "Our own experienced reviewers visit, inspect and recommend the places we feature – so users don’t have to rely solely on reviews written by disgruntled travellers or even by the hotels or restaurants themselves."
