Unite to hold support session for Thomas Cook’s Bristol Airport staff

Wednesday, 01 Oct, 2019 0

Jobless Thomas Cook workers based at Bristol Airport have been invited to a special drop-in session by Unite the union on Friday to help them cope with their sudden redundancy.

Being held at Tony Benn House, Victoria Street, Bristol, 10am-1pm, members and non-members can meet with trade union solicitors and Unite’s education and membership support team.

Unite is offering workers legal advice as well as help finding new employment.

Regional officer Tim Morris said: "Unite is doing everything it can to support the workers at Thomas Cook, who were dumped from their jobs without warning last week.

"There was absolutely no consultation with the Thomas Cook workforce and Unite will be launching legal action on behalf of our members over this failure to consult on the redundancies that have resulted from the firm’s needless collapse.

"Unlike no-win-no-fee solicitors, Unite members who use its legal services keep 100 per cent of any award they receive."

A drop-in session is also taking place today (Thursday) for Gatwick staff.
