United Airlines extends new Tahiti service to year-round
United Airlines has kicked off landmark flights from San Francisco to the islands of Tahiti, and marked the launch with news it will extend it to year-round.
It is the only nonstop service by a US carrier to Tahiti linking SFO with capital Pape’ete.
The initial seasonal service will continue year-round.
It serves as a gateway to the islands of French Polynesia, including Moorea and Bora Bora.
The route operates Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and extends to year-round service on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from March 30, 2019.
"We are thrilled to extend this exciting flight to a year-round schedule," United said.
United operates the route with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The carrier now serves 90 destinations across the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean from its San Francisco hub.
United recently announced it will be the only U.S. carrier offering daily year-round flights to Amsterdam from SFO beginning in March 2019.
