United Airlines goes indie with movie tie-in
United Airlines is to sponsor the Tribeca Film Festival this month, offering customers exclusive in-flight entertainment specially selected by festival organizers.
United will be the official airline partner for the film festival taking place from April 16 in Lower Manhattan.
Passengers on United aircraft equipped with a seatback entertainment system can watch independent films, documentaries, and other content from the festival.
United will also add the the Tribeca-curated movie selections to its upcoming free personal device entertainment program which is being rolled out on Airbus A320, A319 and Boeing 747 aircraft.
Also, United MileagePlus members may use award miles for tickets to attend screenings at this year’s festival.
This includes an invitation-only event on April 24 attended by filmmakers, cast members and festival organizers.
Guest speakers scheduled include actors Kevin Spacey, Bryan Cranston, and Alec Baldwin.
