United CEO Munoz pays visit to airline’s operations center

Sunday, 30 Nov, 2015 0
Although still officially on sick leave, United Continental’s CEO Oscar Munoz made a Thanksgiving visit to the airline’s operations center to meet with staff.

Munoz, 56, suffered a heart attack in October, just weeks after taking over in the top job as successor to ousted Jeff Smisek.

"Our team was happy to see Oscar and his family for the holiday, and we look forward to his return next year," said United spokeswoman Karen May.

The carrier recently said Munoz will return as CEO in the first quarter of 2016.

The position is currently being covered on an interim basis by United’s general counsel Brett Hart.
