United CEO: No one will be fired over passenger dragging incident

Saturday, 19 Apr, 2017 0

There will be no one fired as a result of United Airline’s worst crisis, CEO Oscar Munoz said.

The damaging passenger dragging incident, caught on video, was down to a ‘system failure.’

Munoz described it as a ‘true learning opportunity and a watershed moment for our company.’

No United employee will be disciplined but that is a different story for the three Chicago police officers involved.

All three are still suspended pending an internal investigation into their conduct.

Dr David Dao, was forcibly removed from flight 3411 in Chicago and suffered a broken nose and concussion.

His lawyers said he plans to sue the airline.

United has already begun to make changes to its overbooking and crew travel policy in light of the backlash directed at the airline, but will announce a full policy review at the end of this month.

Munoz had already vowed not to involve law enforcement in the removal of passengers from a flight unless they present a security risk.

He also said it is too early to gauge whether the incident is affecting ticket sales
