United’s new Singapore service will be longest 787 flight
United Airlines will introduce daily non-stop flights between its San Francisco hub and Singapore’s Changi Airport from June 1, subject to government approval.
Using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, United will be the first airline to offer non-stop service between San Francisco and Singapore.
Measured by distance, the service will be the longest scheduled 787 flight operated by any airline.
Flying times will be approximately 15 hours, 30 minutes eastbound and 16 hours, 20 minutes westbound.
United claims this will save customers up to four hours’ journey time each way, compared its existing one-stop service and its competitors’ schedules.
The flight will also be the only non-stop service to the US from Singapore.
Flight UA1 will depart San Francisco at 11:25pm daily, arriving in Singapore at 6:45am two days later (all times local).
The return flight, UA2, will depart Singapore at 8:45am daily, arriving at San Francisco at 9:15am the same day.
