Universal Beijing Resort set to open in May 2021
The multi-billion dollar Universal Beijing Resort is on track for its grand opening in May this year.
All major construction on its theme park is now complete, said operator Beijing International Resort Co., Ltd.
It unveiled more details and an updated timeline at a Beijing Radio and Television Gala event, as it ‘enters the stage of full operation preparations,’ said GM Tom Mehrmann.
Signature attractions and landmarks were unveiled including a first look at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Transformers and Jurassic World zones.
The company says work has involved 100,000 construction workers and more than 500 designers and artists.
In total there will be seven themed lands – The Wizarding World of Harry Potter; Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness; Hollywood; WaterWorld; Transformers: Metrobase, Minion Land; and Jurassic World Isla Nublar.
Each will have their own themed rides and experiences, as well as shows and themed stores and food outlets.
Live shows planned include the WaterWorld Stunt Show and Lights, Camera, Action! in Hollywood land.
Universal Studios Grand Hotel will be the first themed resort hotel to open, followed by the he NUO Resort Hotel.
Both will be operated by Beijing Tourism Group and Kempinski Hotels.
