Unruly Polish passenger diverts US flight

A court appearance in Central Florida was set this week for a 32-year-old Polish passenger who became unruly and struck flight attendants during a trip from Mexico to Britain.

A 226-passenger Thomsonfly flight from Cancun had an unscheduled stopover at an Orlando suburb where the man, identified by the Associated Press as Rafal Marcir Krawczyk, was being held in custody.

Thomsonfly said the passenger was drunk and may have vandalized an airplane bathroom.

The passenger got into a fight with flight attendants before being subdued by others on the flight.

Officials said the incident had no ties to terrorism or political motives.
