UPDATE: Eurostar cancels all trains

Wednesday, 12 Mar, 2013 0

Bad weather in northern France has forced Eurostar to cancel all its services for the rest of today.

There will be no high speed trains to or from France or Belgium and passengers are being advised not to go to any Eurostar stations.

Heavy snowfall and freezing conditions are expected to continue into Wednesday and disruption to the high speed line is expected to continue tomorrow, with speed restrictions operating on the line. Some services to Paris and Brussels have already been cancelled and the train operator is advising people to travel only if essential.

Airports in the Channel Islands remain closed today due to severe weather which has made it impossible for flights to get in or out of Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney.

Passengers flying to any of the above destinations are being advised to contact their airlines.

EasyJet warned that it has also been forced to operate a reduced schedule to both Paris Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports today due to adverse weather in the French capital.

Gatwick Airport is advising passengers to leave plenty of extra time for their journeys to the airport today due to poor weather and disruption to rail and road networks in the area. There were still considerable delays on the A23 south of Gatwick early this morning.

Heavy winds have forced Brittany Ferries to cancel today’s sailings between Portsmouth and Caen and P&O Ferries sailings from Dover to Calais are being disrupted this morning due to industrial action by staff in the French port.

P&O said services will be running with delays of up to 35 minutes but passengers are being advised to check in as normal. To assist passengers, the latest information can be obtained via information and Weatherline on 0845 832 8888
