Update from Tokoriki! This is what their guests say!
Another big Yellow Fin Tuna and this one a kilo heavier than the last, weighing in at 55.5kg and it took three people close to one hour to land the fish on 24kg tackle.
We’ve been having fun on the afternoon Light Tackle fishing trips, catching Spanish Mackerel up to 12kg and GTs up to 15kg. These fish have been caught trolling.
There have also been bait fish on the tops of the reefs and we’ve had great sport casting small metal lures on light spinning gear for Blue Fin Trevally and Scad Mackerel.
On two recent sport fishing trips we’ve seen groups of Pilot Whales and pods of Spinner Dolphins and at Saki’s Reef we’ve been seeing loads of the lovely Palette Surgeon Fish (Dory from ‘Finding Nemo’), as well as schools of Blue and Yellow Fusiliers and Long fin Banner Fish.
Sherwood Forest sitings include Grey Reef and White Tip Reef sharks, plus Rainbow Runner and Scad Mackerel.
At Tokoriki Wall there is a resident school of Blue Fin Trevally and now the Marine Reserve is in place we’ve seen from the beach some huge Giant Trevally and even a 1.5m long Great Barracuda!
Glassy calm seas and warm temperatures have made Discover Scuba Diving at Tokoriki a very popular activity…with many guests leaving the Resort vowing to get “Certified” one day!

The new School term starts January 22nd, so guests visiting the village on Yanuya Island will see the school children enjoying the new school wing built by the owners of Tokoriki Island Resort.
Many guests have generously given funds and sent books to put in the soon to be completed “Resource Centre”: which will boast a library and computers.
The seas around Monuriki ‘Cast Away movie’ Island have been dotted by large patches of floating pumice stone as a result of a submarine volcanic eruption near Tonga.
