UPDATED: Ten found alive in avalanche hotel
Ten people, including four children, have been found alive in a hotel that was buried by an avalanche in Italy.
At least four people have been confirmed dead since the avalanche struck the hotel on Wednesday and about 20 are still missing.
Mountain rescue teams have been at the four-star Hotel Rigopiano, which is close to the Gran Sasso mountain in the Abruzzo region, since the early hours of Thursday morning.
They feared many had been killed but said they had not given up hope of finding survivors.
It is believed the avalanche was triggered by earthquakes in the country on Wednesday. Before the quakes, the mountainous regions had days of heavy snow.
The remote Hotel Rigopiano overlooks the Gran Sasso mountain and is just under six miles from the small town of Farindola.
The UK Foreign Office advised visitors to Lazio, Abruzzo and Marche to follow local advice and to check the European Avalanche Warning Service website for more information about the avalanche risk.
