Updated: 16.00hrs
Nine people are dead and more than 150 injured, 18 seriously, after two passenger trains collided in Germany this morning.
The crash happened at Bad Aibling, a spa town about 60km south-east of Munich in the German state of Bavaria – close to the Austrian border.
It is believed that the trains collided head-on with one of the trains derailed in the crash and several carriages were overturned.
All trains in the crash region have been stopped until further notice.
Emergency services with rescue helicopters are at the scene, German media reported.
The train operator, Der Meridian, has set up an emergency information line: 00 49 395 4308 4390.
The British Embassy has said it is in touch with the local authorities to investigate whether any British nationals have been affected.
