Upscale hostel award-winners
HostelBookers, which says it is the only Web site in the travel industry that does not charge a booking fee, has named its first US “Hostel Awards for Excellence” winners, which in keeping with trends are far more upscale than ever before.
A dozen US properties were recognized with criterion that include atmosphere, cleanliness, location, popularity, value and overall rating.
“Unlike other budget accommodation awards, all the winners were chosen solely upon Hostelbookers.com customer reviews, ratings and bookings,” the company says.
Three properties awarded for their excellence were Urban Oasis, named the TOP 3 Hostel for North America, which is considered a peaceful, unique oasis in the heart of bustling Manhattan; Gallery Inn Hilton, located in Washington and just steps away from the capital’s major tourist’s attractions, airports and trains stations; and Rita’s Apartments, a newly renovated property located in Uptown Manhattan (Harlem). The later won in the best value category.
“We’re incredibly proud to have launched the biggest award the budget accommodation industry has ever seen,” said David Smith, chief operating officer.” Quality has always been a major priority, so it was only a matter of time before we launched these awards to showcase the quality of budget accommodation available.”
He said HostelBookers features over 17,000 properties on its Web site in 3,500 worldwide destinations.
